let's get familiar
Hello!
My name is Klaudie Greenoak. I was born in Poland, where my love of making pictures began at a young age. Many years later during a visit to Crete, I met Adrian, a writer and musician and a creative spirit in many artistic forms. That meeting changed the course of my life, and I chose to stay on Crete which I now call home.
Although having never taken formal art classes, I began painting with the encouragement and support of Adrian, and in doing so discovered a deep and lasting passion for creating. Since childhood, I have been drawn to the work of Modigliani and Chagall, whom I have always felt to be my quiet teachers and guiding influences.
My paintings are most often faces of women, not portraits, but figures that emerge from my imagination, a mythical world, shaped by hidden memories and unspoken wishes, and yet often containing traces of real people I have met along the way.
I live in a small village called Likotinarea, in a little house on the mountainside surrounded by cypress trees and the companionship of two dogs and five cats. Crete, this unpredictable and unique island, capricious and rich in history, full of hidden, enchanted spellbound places, inspires my life, my imagination and my creative work.
Blood leads the brush, leaving thoughts behind. Once I start to create, I never know what my spirit will express…
I hope you enjoy my paintings, as much as I enjoy creating them.
